AMAK OY · Contract Manufacturing
Contract manufacturing is an effective way to ensure the availability of critical components and manage production flexibly. It provides delivery reliability and the opportunity to leverage our experts’ expertise right from the design phase. Take advantage of Amak’s decades of experience and modern machinery—you’ll get a cost-effective, flexible, and reliable solution without having to make any investments of your own.
CONTRACT MANUFACTURING
The partnership often begins as early as the design phase, when our expertise in precision machining becomes an integral part of the product’s development. This collaborative model ensures that the necessary parts are always available at exactly the right time—without extra storage costs or delivery delays.
In contract manufacturing, we work with the customer to develop an operating model that specifically meets the needs of that particular product or product family. Together, we agree on matters such as product storage, delivery times, order batch sizes, and delivery schedules. This creates predictability for both parties and enables cost-effective production even in smaller batches.
At the heart of contract manufacturing is a partnership that combines technical expertise with long-term collaboration. Our specialized expertise focuses on precision turning and milling, where dimensional accuracy and surface quality are critical factors. We have manufactured tens of thousands of different parts, ranging from prototypes to mass production, and this experience forms the foundation for a reliable partnership.
Our extensive partner network adds value to our contract manufacturing services, as we also provide our customers with sheet metal work, surface treatments, and other specialized manufacturing services. Managing the entire process from a single point saves time and reduces the need for coordination, as all stages of production are seamlessly linked together.
CONTRACT MANUFACTURING · WHY AMAK?
The success of contract manufacturing depends on the product being designed for efficient production. We help our customers optimize manufacturing methods and select the right materials as early as the design phase. If technical drawings for the product do not yet exist, we create them in collaboration with the customer. Assessing manufacturability and optimizing manufacturing methods are part of the process, ensuring that the end result is both technically functional and cost-effective to manufacture.
During the quotation phase, our expert guidance helps you identify the optimal manufacturing method for each product. Technical and economic considerations go hand in hand as we evaluate different options and their suitability for the specific production situation at hand.
CONTRACT MANUFACTURING · MACHINING SERVICES
Amak’s contract manufacturing services focus on CNC machining, which includes both turning and milling. These methods are used to manufacture precision parts from a wide variety of materials.
CONTRACT MANUFACTURING · TURNING
We use turning to manufacture parts with circular geometries. Modern multi-axis lathes are capable of producing complex parts in a single machining operation without the need for re-clamping. This means that, in addition to internal and external surfaces, the part can feature asymmetrical shapes and, using rotating tools, threads, for example.
Typical turned products include specialty screws, tubular components, and various shafts. The flexibility of our machine fleet enables us to manufacture both small batches and larger volumes. Thanks to automation, Amak’s series production is efficient and cost-effective.
MACHINING · MILLING
Milling is a particularly efficient manufacturing method when the goal is to minimize the amount of manual labor required for assembly. A frame or housing manufactured as a single piece reduces the number of joints and speeds up the completion of the final product.
For example, we mill frame parts for measuring instruments, enclosures and covers for circuit boards, watch cases, lighting components, and custom aluminum parts in various shapes and with various threads. We design and manufacture products from the material best suited to their intended use, whether it be aluminum, steel, or other specialty materials.
CONTRACT MANUFACTURING · PROCESS
Getting started with contract manufacturing isn’t complicated, but a well-conducted initial assessment lays the foundation for a successful partnership.
Planning Support
Our collaboration can begin as early as the product design phase. This allows us to draw on Amak’s expertise in designing parts with cost-effective production in mind. Optimizing manufacturability at this stage saves both time and money down the road.
Request for Proposal
If the product has already been designed, the next step is a request for a quote. At that point, we determine the required volumes, delivery times, and any special requirements. At this stage, we also offer alternative solutions if another method or material works better.
Agreement
The agreement sets out the key terms of our partnership: inventory levels, order sizes, delivery times, and pricing. Flexibility is important—circumstances can change, and our agreement will be adjusted as agreed.
Production and Monitoring
Once production begins, communication will continue on a regular basis. We will work together to address quality assurance, delivery tracking, and any necessary changes. For assemblies that require assembly, we can deliver pre-assembled units that have undergone functional and visual inspections.
Manufacturing and Prototypes
CUSTOM MANUFACTURING · BASED ON SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Our contract manufacturing services are designed for companies that need precise, high-quality machined components as part of their own production or products. The critical importance of the product to business operations makes contract manufacturing a sensible choice, as delivery reliability and consistent quality are guaranteed.
Amak’s contract manufacturing services cater to a wide range of industries and companies. Here are some of our typical client companies:
CONTRACT MANUFACTURING · FAQ
Contract manufacturing is a long-term collaboration model in which a machine shop commits to manufacturing a customer’s products under agreed-upon terms. It differs from traditional subcontracting in the level of commitment—the goal is to ensure reliability of delivery and cost-effectiveness.
Amak manufactures precision parts using CNC turning and milling. Typical products include housing parts for measuring instruments, electronics enclosures, lighting components, specialty screws and shafts, as well as prototypes and small production runs.
Yes. We recommend involving us as early as the product design phase, so that we can optimize manufacturability and costs from the very beginning.
We serve, among others, the measuring instrument industry, the lighting industry, the watch industry, medtech companies, and machinery and equipment manufacturers.
Yes. Contract manufacturing can include not only machining but also surface treatments, sheet metal work, and assembly—you get complete, ready-to-use assemblies from a single partner.
